Privacy Policy

The short version: your sailing data never leaves your boat. SailTac runs on your own computer. We hold the small amount of information needed to sell you a license and email you a key, and nothing else.
What we hold
- Your email address — to send your license key, renewals, and occasional messages about the product.
- Your boat name — because license keys are issued against it.
- Your subscription record— which tier, when it renews, and the license key we issued. This is held in our payment processor's systems.
- Anything you email us — support threads, feedback, and the like.
What we don't hold
- Your instrument data, GPS positions, race logs, tracks, polars, sail inventory, crew names or helm statistics. All of it is written to your own machine and we have no access to it.
- Your payment card details. Those go directly to Stripe and never touch our systems.
- Any tracking or advertising profile of you. This site has no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics cookies.
Who processes data for us
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions and billing records. Stripe also works out and collects any sales tax or VAT due on your purchase, and holds the record of your license key.
- Resend — sending your license key and account emails.
- Vercel — hosting this website.
- Cloudflare — serving the installer download.
Each holds only what it needs to do its job. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, ever.
What the app talks to
When you ask it to, SailTac fetches public weather forecasts and public map tiles from third-party services, and checks a public race-tracking feed if you use fleet tracking. Those requests go directly from your computer to those services — they don't pass through us, and we don't see them. The rest of the time the app makes no outbound connections at all.
The app does not phone home. It does not send us usage statistics, crash reports or telemetry. License keys are verified entirely offline on your own machine.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Stripe's hosted checkout sets its own cookies as part of processing your payment and preventing fraud — those are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
How long we keep things
We keep subscription and billing records for as long as we're required to for tax and accounting purposes. Support email is kept while it's useful. If you ask us to delete your details we'll do it, except where we're legally required to retain a record of a transaction.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Email scott@sailtacperformance.comand we'll respond — depending on where you live you may have these rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or state privacy laws, and we apply them to everyone regardless.
Where your information is held
We're based in the United States and our providers store data there. If you're outside the US, buying from us means your contact and billing details are handled in the US, under contractual safeguards our providers offer for international transfers.
Children
SailTac isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll email subscribers. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
